Collaborative Robotics: the new workforce
In this post COVID-19 world we need to find new solutions to get people back to work while at the same time maintaining social distancing. A push towards increased automation may be the answer, with one possible solution being collaborative robotics, or “co-bots”. These are robots designed for direct interaction between humans and robots inside a shared workspace and can support with enabling workers to maintain a safe distance from others.
Widespread adoption of collaborative robotics may be some time away, but companies need to survive the existing crisis and have the necessary capital to invest. The chart below shows an increase in patenting activity over the last five years and key innovators in the space.
